Desmina de Vil

Desmina de Vil is an avant-garde performance artist and storyteller based in the Bay Area (or wherever the plot takes her). Her various mediums of self expression — as a drag clown, writer, fashion designer, and figure model— inspire audiences to delve into a fantastical world slick with imagination. As the literal and figurative representation of the shadow self, the hidden one, the nasty one, the one that makes men cower, Desmina de Vil stands in the open with a bleeding heart and raw humor, plowing through non/existence with radical self-acceptance.

Desmina de Vil is the author of Tattle Tale, FYI, a satirical gossip column and literary fashion magazine that explores the rotating cycles of existence as experienced by Ms. de Vil — birth, life, death, and matrimony. Tattle Tale, FYI Edition I (published in March 2025) creatively recounts the chaotic journey that led Desmina to being a world-renowned clown and fashion designer. At New York Fashion Week, Desmina struts the Runway in a paper mâché wedding dress filled with words of shame and glory, committing to herself for all of Eternity. She dies at the hand of Mother Death, and wakes up a clown on a Merry-Go-Round.
