Faegele Fruits is the home of a multitude of artforms such as baking, crochet, and zines for the queer and disabled creative, River (they/them). Their zines and writings cover disability, queerness, sports, and lots in between. Zines have become a way to practice brevity (sometimes), share disability information, meet people in a new city, process nostalgia, and enrich their Jewishness. Though River dedicated early adulthood to a traditional career, they fell back in love with poetry in college. Becoming disabled and realizing their queerness deepened that connection and now tentatively call themselves an artist.
Nearly every zine they make and distribute is handwritten and illustrated or collaged. Everything Faegele Fruits is 100% human made with a little bit of bad handwriting and support for their local library. River was raised in the darkness of Maine winters and is finding ways to enjoy the changes of now residing in Central Texas.
